Rotary Flap Peening Training

Hands-on Training

Hands-on Practical Training is based on the industry AMS2590™ Rotary Flap Peening of Metal Parts which has many similarities with OEM specifications. The Two-Point Intensity Determination Method is presented as well. The Instructor can address any trainee provided OEM specification questions and can also tailor the training to the trainee’s specific peening requirements.

The training provides training slides with many instructor added hands-on practical tips for use on the shop floor. Each trainee will operate the peening equipment and generate a saturation curve or two point method to determine intensity. Next the trainee will verify intensity followed by peening a sample for correct coverage and inspection. The trainee will fill out all specification required documentation including an Operator Peening Record.

Training Goal

The goal of each training event is for the trainee to be able to do the actual peening work required at the company with their specific equipment. Training will cover electric motor, compressed air and closed loop peening equipment as applicable for the trainee. The training will include N and A Almen strip intensity machine settings. Tips will be provided for meeting the drawing or specification required intensity and coverage.
